Do You Sleep Like A Baby?

This is a question most respond "no" to because it either takes someone forever to doze off or they find themselves waking up multiple times throughout the night. Do you fall into one of those categories as well? Providing one's body with the required daily nutrients is one remedy.

We all want to sleep like a baby. More times than not though, we are the cause of our own insomnia because of what we do to our bodies and the lifestyles we live. When our bodies lack the daily nutrients they require, they become inefficient at producing the energy to get them through the day. Our bodies have no choice but to rely on certain stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol to make up for that deficiency. These hormones can alter the body's ability to relax and sleep deeply.

Here are some helpful tips to improve your sleep.

You need to consume calcium throughout the day. When blood calcium levels decrease, it plays a role in restlessness at bedtime. Your only other recourse is eating a calcium rich snack before bedtime i.e. ice cream, warm milk with honey or cheese and fruit.
Keep your blood sugar in balance. Eating protein, fat and carbs together will do the trick. Make sure you avoid allergic foods... meaning anything that cause anxiety, rapid pulse rate, or other reactions that place your body in stress.
Try an Epsom Salt Bath before bed. Epsom Salt is a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate easily absorbed through the skin. Stress drains the body of magnesium and increases levels of adrenaline. When dissolved in warm water, Epsom Salt replenishes the level of magnesium in the body. The magnesium helps to produce serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of calm and relaxation. Use 1-4 cups in a bath and soak for 15-30 minutes.
Magnesium Deficiencyis a common cause of insomnia. Magnesium is needed for over 300 reactions in the body and not available in our food supply. It is also wasted by the body during times of stress, affecting one's ability to fall asleep. An all-natural supplement containing the daily requirement will help restore the deficiency.
Use Lavender at your bedside. The calming effects of Lavendercan offer relaxation that will help soothe insomnia. Using lavender oil in a vaporizer, as a sachet under your pillow or sprinkled on a gauze pad left beside the bed will help those with mild insomnia.
